Individuals and families can grow gardens in a wide variety of ways and approaches. These approaches can be as simple as leveraging a simple flower pot (hanging, grounded), garden container, or dedicating a portion of the family’s backyard to supporting community gardens. Home gardens can provide many social, economic, environmental, and community benefits.
In response to the potential opportunities, H.O.P.E. Outreach along with Senator Katrina Jackson have developed MyLAgardens. MyLAGarden is a program that combines education along with practical gardening experience in Concordia, East Carrol, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, and Tensas parishes. The program will include the expansion, development, and support for gardeners by providing garden boxes (4’x4’ and 4’x8’) for homeowners and support for personal gardens.
